Tsoh At’eed or “Big Girl” in the Dine’ (Navajo) language is fitting for this beautiful 6 year old Buckskin that comes out of the Calico Basin herd. We nicknamed her “Shay” as a loose combination of both words. Shay is approximately 15.2 hh and 1,100 lbs and for a mustang, very big with an incredibly athletic body conformation. Her quickness and intelligence level is outstanding but her inquisitiveness is what really drew us and the adopters to her.

In this instance, we were fortunate enough to have the potential adopters go with us to the BLM holding corrals in Ridgecrest, CA, where after several hours of going from pen to pen observing hundreds of mustangs, we agreed on getting Shay.

Shay is still going through the gentling process since receiving her at the Funny Farm on 11/03/14. Due to her age and years on the range, she is still hesitant on approach, however, once under halter, she has been taught several ground exercises to include: Yielding Hindquarters; Lateral Flexing; Lunging on loose line at walk/trot/canter; Backing up/Moving forward on loose line on command; Shay has been desensitized to the tarp, plastic bag, flag and string.
